Tulsa Judo Club

The Tulsa Judo Club is a 501(c)(3) non profit educational institution located in Tulsa, Oklahoma that is devoted to teaching the martial art and Olympic sport of Judo

Kodokan Judo started on the path of becoming the dominate Ju Jitsu school by defeating all other schools in a famous tournament at the Tokyo Police Department in 1886. World wide recognition came with Judo's formal inclusion in the Olympics in 1964. It is now the most widely practiced form of Ju Jitsu and any martial art in the world.

Judo is a complete self defense system. In addition to throwing, choking & arm-locks, atemi waza (kicking, punching), wrist-locks, leg-locks and defense against weapons are practiced in the Self Defense program (Seniors only).

For kids and open tournaments, potentially dangerous techniques are not used. According to the American College of Sports Medicine, Judo is the safest contact sport for children under age 13.

Because of the explosive power of Judo throws, the Club invested in a standard Olympic training mat with a double thick cushioned sub floor. Never attempt these techniques on a normal city street or floor!

No martial art can be learned without hard study under expert coaching. The Club has eight Third Dan or higher USA Judo certified coaches that actually live, work and train here in Tulsa. Dr. Martin Bregman, the Head Coach, is 7th Dan, former Olympic referee, mat supervisor at the 1996 Olympics and scout for the USA Olympic team.

All Dan (black belt) rank issued by Tulsa Judo Club is internationally recognized because it is granted under authority of USA Judo, the national governing body for Judo in the United States.

The Club has trained a long list of black belts and close to a hundred national and international medalists. We take this seriously!

Training is open to anyone 5 years or older for competitive Judo. Adults 18 years or older may study self defense Judo. See: Getting Started.
